There are two colours in our national flag. They are bottle green and red. In the flag, there is a red circle in the middle of the green rectangular. The green colour denotes the greenery of Bangladesh. The red circle of the flag indicates the blood of our national heroes. In 1971, they sacrificed their lives for the country. The flag is hoisted every day at the top of the government buildings, educational institutions, and offices. It is also hoisted everywhere on Independence Day and Victory Day especially. We got our national flag through the liberation war of 1971 at the cost of an ocean of blood. On 2 March 1971, the flag was raised for the first time at Dhaka University. It symbolizes our national integrity, solidarity, and sovereignty. The design of our national flag consists of a red disc on top of a bottle-green rectangular area. The disc represents the sun rising over Bangladesh and the blood of our freedom fighter. The green area stands for the greenness of the land of Bangladesh. The length and width of our national flag are in the proportion of 10:6. Its shape is rectangular. It is made of cotton, linen or silk. Every day it is hoisted on our government offices and educational institutions. Besides, it is hoisted everywhere on Independence Day and Victory Day.
