The word ‘tele’ means a long-distance and ‘vision’ means the ability to see. So, television is a system of sending and receiving pictures and sound by means of electronic signals from long distance. In 1940, the first practical television system began operating. It is the most important mode of entertainment to all classes of people.  Nowadays it is a part and parcel of our daily life. It broadcasts news, dramas, movies, comedy series and other attractive programs. It gives both knowledge and pleasure. Television programs are not only entertaining; they can be highly educative too. For example, Television is now used for distance learning.  Today many courses run by the Open University are shown on Bangladesh Television (BTV). However, watching TV excessively is not permissible. The young

generations are seen to be badly addicted to it which sets us thinking. Young people most often watch exciting films. They also see obscene films. All these bad things leave a damaging effect on their soft mind. Thus many of our young people are going to astray day by day. So, the guardians should be more cautious to allow their boys and girls to see TV programs. They should allow their children educative and informative programs that will be helpful to build up their career.
