Tag questions with indefinite pronouns

In English there are some indefinite pronouns. We will first be familiar with the Indefinite pronoun then we will discuss Tag questions with Indefinite pronouns.

List of indefinite pronoun:

anyone someone no one /none everyone
anybody somebody nobody everybody
anything something nothing everything

Tag questions with indefinite pronouns

Rule 1 :

If the subject is with ‘–one’ in a statement such as – {everyone, someone, anyone, no one, none etc. } in all these cases, we use the subject ‘they’ to form tag question.

Everyone likes him, don’t they?

None can do this, can they?

Anyone is allowed, are they?

Rule 2:

If the subject is with ‘–body’ in a statement such as – {everybody, anybody, somebody, nobody etc. } , in all these cases, we use the subject ‘they’ to form tag question.

Everybody wants money, don’t they? 

Nobody went there, did they?

Somebody will say so, won’t they?

Rule 3:

If the subject is with ‘–thing’ in a statement such as – {everything, anything, something, nothing etc. } in all these cases, we use the subject ‘it’ to form tag question.

Nothing is certain, is it? 

Anything is possible for him, isn’t it?

Nothing was done, was it?
